Havelock High School Shines the Light on Allison Krysa, Valedictorian

delivered by the valedictorian and salutatorian during graduation at each of our traditional high schools and Craven Virtual Academy. Havelock High School is honored to announce Allison Krysa as the valedictorian for the class of 2023. Allison presented her speech during this year’s commencement, held at Sasser Field on Friday, June 9th to the graduating class of 2023 and to the families, staff, and community members in attendance. For those unable to attend the Havelock High Graduation Ceremony, please enjoy Miss Krysa’s speech and, hopefully, this provides an opportunity for you to get to know her a little bit better.
Good morning everyone, my name is Allison Krysa and I am the valedictorian of the 2023 graduating class. Wow, guys! Let me tell you I was so excited to be finished with high school, but I am not off the hook yet. I still have to do one more thing...give this speech. So, all of you, like all of my teachers, are getting to hear something that I procrastinated on. First and foremost, I want to thank everyone for taking time out of their day to be here. I’ll try to not bog this ceremony down too much for you all. To the class of 2023, I am so proud of each and every one of you. We made it and we all worked hard to get here. To be able to walk this stage. No one can take away this moment from you, from us. If you look at the people around you, you might see some faces of people you don’t know. Maybe you see your best friends, maybe some people you’ve never gotten along with. No matter who they are to you, we are all sharing this moment and that is so, so special. We will forever be attached to this moment together.
I want to thank this class for sharing this moment with me. I want to thank the people up here on this stage with me because it would be so awkward up there without all of you. I want to thank our salutatorian for being my greatest academic competition. We were back and forth for so long and you are such a smart person and if anyone deserves to be up here it’s you. I want to thank all of my teachers and coaches for their unwavering support. I want to thank all of my friends for making this year so enjoyable and for being my biggest fans. Thank you for holding me together during some of the most challenging months of my life. I want to thank my sister for basically forcing me to be valedictorian. She was up here just two years ago, and you know I couldn’t let her have all the glory. I want to thank all of my family, thank you to the ones that could make it today and the ones that couldn’t. You are always in my heart. I want to give a special thanks to those watching from above. I love you Grandpa and I know you’re with me today. Most importantly, I want to thank my parents. You are the most loving, supportive, and hardworking people I know. You taught me to never give up, and I could not be up here without you both. I love you so much and I am forever indebted to you.
Now back to my fellow graduates, thank you! Thank you if we were friendly, if we spoke, if we only had 1 class together, or if we never even met. You are all wonderful and I could not have picked a better group of people to graduate with. You make me so proud every day to call myself a Ram. I promised myself that I would not say anything too cliche in my speech, but come on, I had to quote High School Musical because we really are “all in this together”.
