HJM News Week of Oct 28-Nov 1

Here are the announcements for the Week of Oct. 28 - Nov 1

The World's Finest Chocolate celebration will be on Monday, October 28. HJM will run an altered schedule to allow all classes to meet prior to the celebration starting at 1:45 pm. Only students who met the candy sale criteria will be released at 1:45 pm to attend the celebration.

Tuesday, October 29 is the end of the first nine weeks grading period. Report Cards will be sent home on November 6. The first nine weeks Awards ceremony is Friday, November 8 at 2:00 pm in the gym. Students who make Honor Roll and Principal List will be recognized at this time. You are welcome to attend to join us in recognizing your child.

Students will be allowed to wear Halloween costumes to school on Thursday, October 31. Costumes are secondary to instruction. In other words, Thursday is a regular day of instruction and learning at HJ therefore any portion of a costume that disrupts student learning will be addressed by Administrators. The costume MUST follow the adopted CCS dress code and full facial masks are not allowed. Face paint is allowed however use your judgement in what is appropriate for school. Students may NOT bring any toy weapons on campus. Consequences will be assigned should a student choose to break any rules with their costume.

Finally, I am pleased to announce that HJ will use Lexia PowerUp to assist our ELA teachers in identifying the areas our students need additional supports in reading to help them make gains. You will be receiving a parent letter this week that will explain more about Lexia PowerUp.
