Ben D. Quinn is happy to welcome School Resource Officer, Deputy Katarina “Kat” Jahr to our BDQ family. Deputy Jahr is with the Craven County Sherriff’s Office, and is a former Kinston Police Officer and paralegal. She is from Colorado and Wyoming, and has four children. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Social and Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Administration, and is working on her Master’s Degree in Psychology. You can see Deputy Jahr in action directing our morning and afternoon carpool traffic. During the school day, Deputy Jahr does perimeter checks on our campus, inside and outside of the building, visits classrooms to talk about her job and roles on campus and in the community, and takes students along on safety checks to show them how she keeps our school safe and secure. At lunch time, you can find her in our cafeteria, checking in with students and helping our younger students make lunch choices and learn their lunch numbers. Even with her mask on, it’s obvious that she is smiling and enjoying making connections with our students and staff at BDQ.
