Welcome to the HMS Media Center
HMS Media Center
The mission of the HMS library program is to create and sustain an environment that ensures students and staff become effective users and creators of ideas and information. All are empowered to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information through providing leadership, instruction, and access to materials.
The vision of the HMS school library program is built by professionals who model leadership and best practice for the school community. The library media center seeks to create a 21st-century environment that promotes collaboration among members of the learning community and encourages learners to be independent lifelong users and producers of ideas and information. It strives to provide flexible and equitable access as the center of collaborative learning that produces creative students who have an appreciation of literature, critical thinking skills, and a respect for others and self.
Welcome to the Havelock Middle Media Center Page. We have transitioned the media center into various use areas. The first area includes the "Taste of a Career" kiosks and the STEAM/MakerSpace area. These will continue to be ongoing processes and projects.
Walking through the archway brings you to the books. Nonfiction is arranged by the Dewey Decimal System and is located against the windows. Shelves to the left/west are the series books and back in the corner are the reference books. Shelves to the right/east are the fiction books arranged by the author's last name. They also are in the process of being colored-coded by genre. The shelves on the south are paperback books and the current middle school Battle of the Books.
The Trojan studio is located in the small room to the left and contains a large green screen, 2 small green areas for shooting stop motion, camera, lighting, props, and editing hardware and software.
