Ms. King has served in the profession of education for 25 years. She received her Bachelor’s in English Education from East Carolina University and holds two Master's Degrees- Curriculum and Instruction (and) Supervision and Administration-both from the University of  Phoenix. Her start in teaching high school English was at West Craven High School (where she graduated from) and then as an Assistant Principal. She later ran and served for two consecutive terms as a Craven County School Board member while teaching 7th grade ELA at Ayden Middle School. Ms. King then transitioned into her role as Assistant Principal at the same school in Pitt County. Proudly, with humbleness, she returns home to serve as the Principal of West Craven Middle School-where she attended from 1982-1984. When asked what she is most excited about in becoming principal of West Craven Middle School and what is her vision for the school’s community, Ms. King answered, “I am excited to have been given the opportunity to give back to my community on this level. I am extremely passionate about giving our students the best academically and providing safety and structure in the building which will allow us to grow and become successful. West Craven Middle School will be a school of Distinction via Academics, Attitude, and Appearance.”
