Mrs. Roxann Wheeler

Welcome to your J.T. Barber Counselor's Page! Spring is in the air!

#wewillprevail #crocscholars #jtbstrong #we'vegotthis #havefaith #nevergiveup #bekind

My name is Roxann Wheeler and as your school counselor, I am here for all of my students and their families during this time of uncertainty. Together we will persevere! I will be offering 1:1 services through my Counselor Connect form, providing classroom guidance instruction, as well as small group interventions.

I have been with Craven County Schools for 19 years, am a graduate of East Tennessee State University (Go Bucs) and East Carolina University (Go Pirates). I have a wonderful son, Cameron and am married to my best friend, Lee. I have lived in New Bern since 2000 but was raised in the mountains of Southwest Virginia in a small town called "Big Stone Gap". I have a sweet goldendoodle named "Beau" and he is the light of our home! I can also be referred to as a "Crazy Cat Lady". I love all animals! Some of my favorite things to do are spending time at the beach with husband and friends, listening to K-Love, keeping up with my childhood besties, and binge watching my favorite shows on Netflix (when I have time) ;p.

I look forward to working through our "new normal" together with all of my students and their families! We've got this! #JTBStrong!

Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns! 252-514-6460 x2231

    Comprehensive School Counseling Mission Statement

J.T. Barber will advocate for all student scholars by creating an equitable and accessible school environment. Through participation in data-driven school counseling programs, all students, regardless of their race, ethnicity, ability, gender, socio-economic status, or sexual orientation, will develop long-term self-directed, realistic, and responsible decision-making skills that will help them achieve their future goals.

    Comprehensive School Counseling Vision

All student scholars from J.T. Barber Elementary School possess the academic skills to be lifelong learners; the social-emotional skills to be global leaders; and the desire to enter into careers that contribute to their community. They realize their value and worth, appreciate diversity, can make self-directed and responsible decisions, effectively display empathy, and are resilient through long and short-term challenges.
