For those of you that do not know me I am originally from Pamlico County and I graduated from Pamlico County High School. I have been married for 11 years and I have two amazing children. My daughter, Nyarrah, is in 8th grade and she attends HJM. My son, Juan III,  is in 5th grade and he attends Ben Quinn. I am so excitied for this upcoming school year. While I am not new to education this will be my only my second year at New Bern High.  I am excited for the change and I am looking forward to having an amazing school year.

I decided to become a teacher because I absolutely love kids!  I taught 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Math and Science middle school for t 5 years and I realized that I don’t get to see what happens when my students become young adults so I made the transition to High School. I think that becoming an adult is a very difficult task for people to adjust to and be able to navigate. For me to have the opportunity to help guide a young adult is exciting for me. My goal is to be there to help my students to adjust and adapt to the real world. I want to be the person that they can rely on and help them to navigate this scary thing called LIFE!

When I am not at school you will probably find me on the beach somewhere or out on the boat with my family, this is when I am not attending one of my daughters many travel softball games. I absolutely love all types of sports and my children are very active. My son plays football, basketball, and baseball while my daughter plays volleyball and softball. I really enjoy spending a lot of time with my family and I cant wait for us to share many stories throughout the year with each other about our families or things that have happened while we were not at school.
