Hello families! My name is Leigh Sekel and I cannot wait to get the year started. It will be a fun year, filled with many learning adventures. 

I'd like to take a minute and share a little bit about myself.  I currently live in New Bern with my husband, Will, and our three children. Will and I just celebrated our 23rd anniversary this past June. Our daughter, Elizabeth, is a freshman in college, our son, William, is in Eleventh grade and our daughter, Olivia, is in Sixth grade at Grover C. Fields Middle School.  They are very involved in various sports and activities and keep us busy!  

This will be my fourth year teaching first grade! Prior to graduating with my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, I was an instructional assistant teacher here at Creekside. I have been at the Creek since it opened its doors back in 2007. I love teaching and can’t imagine doing anything else. 

Some of my favorite things include the colors blue, red, and black, LOTS of coffee, Mt. Dew, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, StrawberryTwizzlers, Peanut M&Ms, Target, and Amazon :)
