Mrs. Amelia Swenby

I am happy to come back to eastern North Carolina after traveling the country with my husband, who finally retired.  I grew up a Marine Corps kid near Camp Lejeune and graduated from Dixon.  As a North Carolina Teaching Fellow, I went to UNC Chapel Hill for a Bachelor's in Secondary English Education, and followed that with a Masters in Library and Information Science also at UNC Chapel Hill.  I began my teaching career as a Library Media Coordinator in Hickory, NC in January 2000 and stayed for 13 years.  I earned my National Boards in 2004, and renewed in 2013. I met my husband, who was in the Army, moved to Spring Lake, and taught at Lee County High, but just 6 months later was surprised to move to Fairbanks, Alaska.  There I enjoyed working as a LMC at a middle school for three years and learn about Native culture.  Then we were off to Kansas, where I subbed, and worked at the public library as a Reference Specialist and marketing, then on Post as a Supply Technician.  Now very happy to return to NC and be back in the media center again to do more interesting things.

We have a blended family of three somewhat grown children, plus three cats, and a very patient lab, all rescue babies.  I love art, cooking, and pretty much learning new things.

  • Guess What?

No late fees!  Have you got books borrowed from another school?  We can send them back.

Bring your books with you to homeroom and drop them off.  We will get them checked in and off your record.  No late fees.

If you are staying home, have someone swing by and drop them off for you.  Or, drop them at any school, or the district site, and our inter-library system will get them to the right place.

We are working on clearing out those records of "old" stuff, and will be sending out emails and reminders of overdues you may have checked out.  Don't worry about the dates, just get them back in.

    :)
