Hello There!! 

My name is Kristan Finlayson and this year will be my 9th year of teaching and first year at Bangert. I have taught in Charlotte Mecklenburg County for 6 years, two years at Ben Quinn before switching to AHB. 

Originally, I am from the outside suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. I'm a proud Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks fan! I attended and graduated from East Carolina University (Go Pirates!) in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education and Elementary Education with a concentration in Reading. My husband grew up in New Bern and attended AHB, so it has been my dream since moving here in June 2020 to teach at Bangert! My husband and I currently have a Golden Retriever puppy but are growing our family this coming January. 

My favorite quote is by Walt Whitman “Be Curious, Not Judgmental”. I believe that all students can grow and learn if they are continuously curious and are kind!
