Hey there!

I am so excited to be teaching 3rd grade this year at James W. Smith! I can’t wait to spend a lot of time with your child learning just as much as having fun! Here is a little about me….

I have lived in New Bern, NC for most of my life, but not always. I was born and raised in Anderson, SC even though nearly all of my family live here in New Bern. My parents, my one younger brother and I moved to New Bern during my 10th grade year. I went to West Craven High School where I cheered for both football and basketball.  I graduated from West Craven in 2014. I then went to Craven Community College where I obtained my Associates Degree before transferring to East Carolina University. I obtained my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education K-6 with a concentration license in Reading K-12. I completed my internship here at James W. Smith in 2019 in 2nd grade. After graduating from ECU, I commuted from New Bern to Jacksonville, teaching 3rd grade for my first year. My first year of teaching was amazing, but I am so excited now to be closer to home and back to my internship school.

I got married to my high school sweetheart in May of 2020. My husband and I are both products of Craven County Schools--he even went right here to JWS in elementary school! This has me super excited and motivated to educate the young minds of this area. My husband is now a fire fighter at the City of New Bern, an Emergency Medical personnel, and works landscaping on his time off. My husband and I just had our first baby in April 2022. His name is Brantley and we're in love. Living the married life and taking care of our bundle of joy keeps us quite busy. In my spare time, I love adventuring to new places with my husband, friends and family. Over the summer, you can always find me near the beach or anywhere outdoors enjoying the sunshine and water. I love to read or watch movies when I have some down time away from school.
