Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Molly Perry

I would like to tell you a little about me. My career began as a group home manager for United Cerebral Palsey of NC. Within a year, I was recruited to operate the state "Day Program" for Trend Mental Health where I first began to work with individuals with both cognitive and mental health disorders. I became the county Crisis Intervention Specialist where I fine tuned my skills at working with individuals with serious emotional disorders.

Along comes my 3 boys and a career more suited to a growing family.

I have been an EC teacher since 1997...yes that means I'm a dinasaur! I earned my BA from UNC-Asheville in Sociology and a M.ED with a concentration in cross categorical special education from Fairmont State University.

I began teaching in Hendersonville NC where my 3 boys were born. We moved to WV in 2000. After my youngest, Logan graduated high school in 2010, we moved back to NC.

My boys are now all married and I have 5 grand children.  In 2015 I moved to New Bern to a new career that just didn't work out. One day, I met Mr. Alvin West. I had no idea he was a local legend. He gave me his phone number and said "you have to come back to teaching, we need you". So, I stopped by the county office and met with Ms. Hardison who sent me to WCMS. Upon walking through the door, I was greeted by the most friendly face I'd ever seen, Ms. Mary Hall. She took me by the arm and gave me a tour of my new school. I started teaching for Craven County within a few weeks.

It was about 3 years later that I decided to go back to the high school environment. I love the concept of OCS and knew that's where my heart was and so I took a position at HHS.  It has been amazing. I love being able to have the small group concept and really reaching students on a more individual level. We build relationships that will last a life time. I'm so thankful to have the opportunity to be in their lives.

In 2018 I married Craig and added 2 girls (and a son-in-law) to my family.  It's been a great few years being at HHS and of course, being married to Craig who had no idea what life would be like as a teacher husband.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little.
