Hello, I am Mary Wible and am excited to join the HJ Macdonald staff this year!

I began my teaching career in 1986 after graduating from Siena College with a B.A. in Mathematics with licensure to teach grades 6 - 12 Mathematics. Later, I earned a Master's Degree in Education adding licensure in Specific Learning Disabilities and Cross Categorcial Special Education. I also acheived National Board Certified in Early Adolescence in 1997 and in 2007.

My first teaching job was at Robert Smalls Jr. High in Beaufort, SC where my husband was stationed at MCAS Beufort. Later, he was transferred in October of 1989 to Jacksonville NC. I taught Math and AVID in Onslow County for the next 24 years at Jacksonville High School, New Bridge Middle School, SouthWest High School.  During the last two years in Onslow County I worked in an Instructional Support Role at Northside High School, Trexler Middle School, and Richlands High School. I retired in January of 2017 after 30.5 years in public education, 27 in North Carolina.

In the fall of 2018, like many others in New Bern, my house was flooded. During the months that followed, I found myself thinking about teaching again. I needed to be part of something meaningful and hopeful and teaching has always been that!

I am grateful to work with Mrs. Reese, Mrs. Morgan, Mr. Swain and all the HJM staff. I am looking forward to getting to know my students & their parents.
