Hello Students and Families,
I am so excited to return as a Mustang for the 2021-2022 school year. After two years on our seventh grade team I am excited to loop up with students as an 8th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. I am also pleased to share that during the summer I completed my Masters of Arts in Teaching Middle Grades through The University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Many thanks to the studens and staff who let me observe and document them or their work over the last two years.
I have an immense love and respect for nature. Taking students outside provides new learning opportunities to think creatively, engage in new concepts, and statistically it reduces behavior problems. You will may see frequent photos of students reading, compelting assignments, or notetaking while outdoors. I hope to have a outdoor seating area added to our space this year. I am to influence all students at Tucker Creek to become better enivornmental stewards and to enjoy the outdoor space we are provided with.
I have also been married to a United States Marine for nearly two decades. Together we have two daughters (one a former Mustang). We have lived in 3 corners of the USA to include Florida, Washington, and Hawaii. We have also lived abroad in Australia and Kyrgyzstan. We love to travel! When I am not in the classroom I am usually tending to my garden and my chickens, tent camping with my family, or enjoying extra hot coffee and a book.
I hope this finds you rested and ready to return to learning.
I am preparing for your return and will update this page with links soon.
We will still be using Canvas to access and complete assignments. Please join your student's Canvas as an observer. More information and a tutorial is a available here.
Please be sure to have your child check their emails throughout the day.
