My name is Whitney Hernandez and I will be teaching science this year!

This is my tenth year teaching. I am married to my best friend, Jason, and mother/step mom to four boys. I am originally from Martinsville, Virginia.  I graduated high school in 2007 and was a teacher's assistant in a special education classroom for 2 years and worked as a counselor and director at a local YMCA for 6 years. I graduated with my BA in Elementary Education from Liberty University in August 2014 and finally got to live out my dream of being a teacher in September 2014. I received my Master's in School Administration in May 2020.

I have loved teaching and look forward to many more years of helping my students learn and achieve great things. It is my belief that ALL students CAN and WILL learn. Education is very important, but it is my hope that I will teach my students that while learning important material, it is also possible to have fun. After all, I wouldn't have chosen a profession working with children if I thought they shouldn't be allowed to be children by making discoveries and having fun!

You know your child’s learning style and you also know if there are any other issues going on that might be affecting their learning at school.
