Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Jennifer Walmsley
I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a degree in middle grades education, specializing in science and social studies. This will be my 23rd year of teaching and my third year working with Early College EAST. Before moving back to Craven County I have spent ten years working with schools to earn their NC STEM School certification and I am excited to bring that knowledge back to ECE. In 2015 I was awarded a Kenan Fellowship where I worked closely with a cohort of elite educators to develop STEM curriculum for teachers to use in their classrooms. I have been working with Kenan Fellows in the summer months, along with the A+ Schools Program and the Wilson Whirligig Park to train elementary teachers on how to design their own STEM curriculums to integrate art and the Whirligig Park into their classrooms. My teaching philosophy focuses on STEM integration and bringing the community and real world problem solving into the classroom. I am excited to continue working with the ECE and CCC family and to awaken the engineering skills in our students.
Our Engineering syllabus and all course materials are posted on Canvas. I encourage parents and guardians to have their students login and view materials through the 'Student Canvas App' as the parent app is very limited. If checking for grades and current average, please use PowerSchool to see the most up-to-date information.
