Thank you for stopping by my webpage! Even after 20+ years of teaching, I always get excited about the new school year. I've found joy in watching my students grow and learn each year, and with the connections I've made with my families. I do feel that we work together as a team to help children succeed. With all of us working together, parent, child, and teacher, we can learn so much from each other.
I graduated from Fayetteville State University in the early 90's with degrees in Elementary Education and History. I then taught in Cumberland County, Hoke County, Sampson County, and arrived in Craven County in 2015 when my husband accepted a job at FRC east. He and I have two wonderful children, and I have two stepdaughters. I also have 3 beautiful grandchildren. Family is very important to me.
I am very excited to be back in third grade. Since coming to Craven County, I have taught 4th and 5th grades, but before that, the majority of my time was spent in third grade. Third graders are at such an exciting point in their school journey. They learn to multiply and divide, which are the keys to much of the math they will be doing in 4th and 5th grade. They are starting to make the transition to reading to learn instead of learning to read. The world is opening up to them, they are figuring out what they are interested in, beginning to develop their dreams for the future. Their writing shows their creativity, and begins to get more detailed. It is an exciting time!
I can't wait to be a part of this journey with my students and their families!
