Hello, My name is Kristen McCoy and I serve as James W. Smith's Internal Instructional Coach. I started my career in 2002 after graduating from ECU with a Degree in Elementary Education. I taught at South Greenville Elementary for 5 years before moving to the country where I married my husband Charlie. During my time at South Greenville I obtained a Masters Degree in Elementary Education and many years of experience in 3rd grade. I started at James W. Smith in 2007 and have been blessed to teach 4th grade for 4 years, Title 1 Intervention Specialist which I have served in for 5 years, and currently I am the James W. Smith Internal Instructional Coach. Charlie and I have two wonderful sons named Wyatt and Lucas. Wyatt is a 8th Grader at West Craven Middle School and Lucas is a 3rd Grader at James W. Smith. We live on our Century farm where we raise cattle and grow corn, soybeans, and hay. We also are now North Carolina Meat Handlers and sell our freezer beef right off our farm.  I love integrating agriculture into school activities such as our annual AG Day and with the Ag in the Classroom lessons I help with. I am looking forward to this year and I can truly say that there is no place I would rather be than right here in the good old country community of Cove City!!
