Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education with a Concentration in Mathmatics and Minor in Mathematics
My name is Casandra George, and this will be my twelfth year of teaching at W.J. Gurganus. I previously taught fourth grade and Kindergarten, and I have now made my way to first grade. I graduated from UNC Pembroke with a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education with a Concentration and Minor in Mathematics. I was also a part of the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program while at UNC Pembroke.
Before UNC Pembroke, I spent my life in Havelock. I was born and raised in this sweet, small town. After graduation, I returned to Havelock to begin my career as a teacher and be with my loving husband, Ryan. Not only was I beginning my career as a teacher when I returned from college, but I was also beginning my lifelong career of being a mother. In January 2013, my husband and I brought home a healthy baby boy, Kyedan. He is now a spirited and athletic ten year old who loves space, building with Legos, and sports. Not long after that, we welcomed another baby boy, Cayson in 2016. He is such a happy boy who loves to eat! Just three years ago, we welcomed our newest addition, our daughter Azylise.
When I am not giving my attention to my kids, I love to find recipes to cook, spend time with my family members, and look at new, creative ways to incorporate in my classroom. You will also find me either on a football field, baseball field, or near a wrestling mat as my family is highly involved in sports throughout the year. There is a possibility that you may also spot me working for my husband at his Italian ice shop or at one of his push carts.
