Mrs. Laird is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Music Education degree.  After teaching band for 4 years in the panhandle of Florida, she joined the Marine Corps as a musician.  Following her honorable discharge, she returned to college and earned her mathematics teaching certification.  She has been teaching 7th grade math at Tucker Creek since 2006.  She is married, has 2 daughters, 1 granddaughter, and 3 cats.  In her spare time, she plays the clarinet in the Craven County Community Band.  She loves country music, football, sweet tea and chocolate.
