Mrs. Stacey Looney
My name is Stacey Looney. I have been a teacher at Tucker Creek since 1997. I have enjoyed teaching in the middle school for over 25 years. I currently teach 8th Grade Mathematics and Math 1. I have earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from North Carolina Central University and a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from East Carolina University.
I have served in various capacities while a teacher at Tucker Creek such as Grade and House Leader, Clinical Teacher; Math Goal Team Leader, School Cabinet and Math Council Representative; the 8th grade representative for the Mathematics Design Collaborative and 2018-19 Ed-Cat Academy teacher. My awards and achievements include: Recognition from Havelock Chamber of Commerce for Excellence in Education; 2015-2016 Teacher of the Year(TCMS); Who's Who Among America's Teachers; Bright Ideas and Partners in Education Grant recipient.
I was born in New York but grew up in Bladenboro, North Carolina. After college, I taught 7th grade math for two years at Rogers Herr Middle School in Durham, NC before moving to Havelock. My first teaching assignment in Craven County Schools was at Havelock Middle. Over the course of about six years, I taught 7th grade math, science and an advanced class of Algebra 1.
My husband and I are proud parents of two adult sons. When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my family, singing, listening to music, playing the piano, reading, and playing candy crush. However, I enjoy teaching mathematics and getting to know my students. I believe that all students can be successful if they keep a positive attitude and work to do their personal best. I look forward to having a challenging but rewarding school year!
