Degrees and Certifications:

BS Elementary Education (K-6 certification)

Mrs. Toler

I was born and raised just across the creek from JWS and am a proud product of Craven County Schools. I attended Ft. Barnwell Elementary, West Craven Middle, and West Craven High School. I earned my BS in Elementary Education (K-6 certification) from East Carolina University in 1999.  I began teaching first grade at JWS in August of 1999 and after four years moved up to second grade where I stayed for fourteen years.  I have spent the past five years teaching fourth grade.  This is my 25th year at JWS and I am excited to be  in second grade.

When I'm not teaching,  I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter along with our many pets (2 cats, 1 dog, 2 ferrets, and 35 chickens at the moment...).  I like to relax by reading a good book, knitting, gardening and, of course, watching a good movie / tv show with my family.

A few of my favorites are:

Color: red, turquoise, bright colors

Food: Arroz con pollo from Arturo's, eggrolls

Drinks: Coffee, tea (hot and cold), Dr. Pepper Zero

Books: The book that made me fall in love with reading was, The Count of Monte Cristo, that I read in high school.  I love all books by Patricia Polacco.  I also enjoy reading fiction / fantasy.

Animal: I am a HUGE animal lover.  A few of my favorites are birds (especially chickens, blue herons, and crows), frogs and octopi.  I am NOT a fan of spiders although I appreciate them eating bugs.

Smells:  citrus / fresh scents, the smell of sawdust / lumber, puppy breath, and lavender.  I am HIGHLY allergic to cinnamon so I avoid it at all costs.

If you ever have any questions or concerns that I can help with, I can be reached a few different ways.
