Mr. Gahagen

I was born and raised in the Pittsburgh PA area. Because of that, I am a huge STEELER fan. I attended California University of Pennsylvania and eventually moved to central Virginia and began teaching at the high school level. During my teaching career, I went back to school (Virginia Commonwealth University) and earned my Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision. My teaching career has spanned 37 years going on 38. I cannot think of a more satisfying job than working with children and seeing them learn and progress throughout the school year(s).

Some other interesting information is that my co-teacher and I were part of the Excellence in Co-Teaching Initiative (through the VDOE) 2014-16, and had the Official Co-Teaching Demonstration site for Region 3 in Virginia. I was also a Presenter at the Content Teaching Academy:  Augmenting Science and Special Educator Teams at James Madison University (Summer 2015).

I also volunteered as a Boy Scout Leader (Assistant Cub Scout Leader for 5 years and Scout Master for 10 years).

My wife (who also teaches at HES) and I enjoy traveling and visiting our 3 grandkids. We also enjoy the water (boating, kayaking, and just being out on the beach).
