I was born and raised in Craven County where I attended and graduated from Craven Community College with two Associates Degrees in both Arts and Fine Arts. After attending Craven Community College, I went on to attend East Carolina University, where I graduated in 2009, receiving my Bachelor’s Degree in Dance Education along with getting my Teacher’s Certification for K-12 Dance. After graduating college, I extended my education in New York City, attending classes in Contemporary Dance at the Alvin Ailey Dance Company. Since 2009, I have grown as an instructor, teaching at local dance studios in New Bern.  This is my 2nd year teaching at NBHS, my 13th year teaching dance at Craven County Schools and my 15th year teaching dance all together. I also coach the New Bern High School Drill Team. The Drill Team is a respected dance team with very high expectations and elite dance skills. Also known as the Bruinettes, The Drill Team has been an ongoing dance team for many decades at NBHS and continues to have a huge impact not only on the dancers but in the community. I work hard to build relationships with my students and I will take time with your child to ensure their needs are met and to reach their full potential as a student.

In my spare time, I like to spend time with my husband, family and friends, which is very important to me. I also love traveling when I can, being crafty, learning TikToks, and most importantly laughing. I feel as if I have a bright spirit and I like to see others smile and have fun while they are learning. I look forward to a fun and exciting year full of dancing here at NBHS.
