Mrs. Finn

Hi!  My name is Ellen Finn and I am a first grade teacher at Brinson Memorial Elementary School.  I have been teaching first grade since 2011. Before I was a teacher, I was the traffic manager at a television station and parent educator/mental health counselor for at-risk youth.

I was born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania.  I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Marywood University.  I moved to North Carolina with my husband and my two sons in 2016.

I love teaching first grade because children grow and change so much during first grade...it is so exciting to be part of that transformation!

Some of my favorite things…

Color...dark purple

Season...summer

Movie...The Sound of Music

Author(s)...Anne Rivers Siddons and Anne Rice

Food...New York pizza and Buffalo chicken wings

Drink...water with lemon and crunchy ice

Sport...football

Animal...ALL OF THEM! :)

Hobbies...reading, cooking, word games

Partnerships with parents is the key to success in education!  Looking forward to working with firsties and families to build strong learning foundations and relationships. :)
