Mrs. Jennifer Reno

Hello there!  I am Mrs. Reno, a second grade teacher at Brinson Memorial.  Since you landed on my "Welcome" page I am guessing you are wondering who I am.  Let me tell you a bit about myself.

I was raised in Raleigh, North Carolina and attended public schools in Wake County.  Following high school graduation I headed to Wake Forest University where I obtained my degree in elementary education.   I have held teaching positions in Wake County, Guilford County and even right here in Craven County!  Before having children I taught right here at Brinson for several years where I earned my National Board Certification. My husband’s work then took us to Atlanta.  While in Atlanta I taught in Cobb County Schools before moving out of the classroom to eventually become Assistant Director of the Georgia Teacher Center, housed at Kennesaw State University.  There I worked with teachers from across the state and across all grade levels.   After adding three children to our family, my husband and I made the decision to head back to NC to be closer to our extended family.  We landed right back here in New Bern, in the school district where I used to teach!  All of my own kiddos are Brinson “graduates” .  My oldest is a 5th year at Georgia Tech, my younger son is 2nd year at Kennesaw State University, and my youngest two are at NBHS- a freshman and a senior!  Yes, you read that right.  I have FOUR kids.  We added one more to the bunch when we moved back to NC.  We are a Brinson family through and through and I am delighted to be able to return to work at what was truly my favorite place to teach.

If your student is headed to my class this year, or even if they were in my class in the past, they are now considered a part of my family.  I call my students "my babies" because I truly love their little spirits as if they were my own little people.  I look forward to working with you.  Welcome to the family!
