Welcome to Third Grade! My name is Matthew McGarry. I have been a teacher at Brinson Memorial Elementary for 10 years.

I am originally from Saratoga Springs, NY. My wife Molly and I are both teachers in Craven County. We live in New Bern with our two boys, Carson and Colton.

I look forward to meeting you all and can't wait for another great school year!

Philosophy

  • I strongly believe that all students are capable of learning under an effective instructor. However, it is ultimately the instructor’s responsibility to accommodate to each and every student’s personal needs. Teachers need to understand that each and every student within their classroom learns in a different way. Effective teachers must accommodate for this by implementing multiple methods of teaching within their classrooms. Teachers need to understand whom their students are, where they come from, and most of all, what they truly want out of their education.
