Mrs. Susan French
My name is Susan French and I am a 21 year veteran teacher. I am a native of Craven County and attended Vanceboro Farm Life, West Craven Middle School and West Craven High School during my own educational career. In 1996, I received my BS in Education with a mathematics minor from East Cariolina University. In 2009, I received my Masters in Instructional Technology also from East Carolina University. I taught 8 years at Arthur W. Edwards Elementary School in Havelock, NC where I taught 2nd and 1st grade. In 2004, I transferred to Bridgeton Elementary School in New Bern, NC. I have taught 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade and am currently one of the Title 1 Interventionist.
It is my honor to serve Bridgeton Elementary School as one of the Title 1 Interventionist. My role is to serve all students in grades 4th and 5th by enhancing and supporting academics needs in reading and math. My daily schedule includes small group and one-on-one instruction with students in math and reading, co-teaching opportunities with regular classroom teachers, academic planning and support with core teachers, facilitating and monitoring data analysis discussions to create pathways to success for all students.
The BES Title 1 team provides opportunities for parents to become involved in student learning and educational needs. Parent Academies and Family Curriculum Nights are created to engage and support family needs in understanding educational grade level expectations and outcomes. We also maintain the BES Family Resource Center where families can receive engaging, hands-on activities to supoort academic needs, increased family time and understanding of special needs for students.
