At an early age, I began a love of teaching instilled through my mother and grandmother who were primary public school teachers.  I attended SUNY Potsdam and majored in English Literature and received a Public School Teacher Certification in Nursery, Kindergarten, and Grades 1-6.  At the beginning of my career, I taught in Utica City Schools in New York State.  In 2002 I began teaching third grade in Craven County Schools.  I have taught third grade for a total of 10 years in New York State and Craven County Schools.  I have also taught 5 years of second grade and currently I am teaching my seventh year of Kindergarten.  During the past six summers I have had the priviledge of teaching Reading Camp or Summer Camp for Craven County Schools.  

It is my desire to help instill a love of learning in each and every child I teach.  I believe that a child' s academic foundation and future career path choices start in Grades K-3.  Reading is so vital and opens doors to so many possibilities in our lives.  I thank my mother and third grade teacher for helping me over the hurdles of my difficulties with Reading Comprehension.  I believe that experience helped to prepare me to inspire children not to give up.
