Dr. Stuart Blount
I am originally from Shiloh, NC (Camden County). I began my teaching and coaching career in Craven County Schools after graduating from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science and Master’s degree in Health and Physical Education. I taught at J.T. Barber 9th grade school before serving as a teacher, coach, and assistant principal at New Bern High School. I served as a principal in Craven County Schools for twelve years (A.H. Bangert Elementary, Brinson Memorial Elementary and New Bern High). In 2010, I left Craven County Schools to serve as an Assistant Superintendent for Scotland County Schools in Laurinburg, NC. In July of 2012, I was appointed Superintendent of Clinton City Schools in Clinton, NC. While serving as Superintendent, I earned my doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I served as the Superintendent of Clinton City Schools until retiring from the State of North Carolina in 2018.
My wife, Toni, and I are members of Garber United Methodist Church and are the proud parents of three children; Jacob, a 2018 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Nick, a 2019 graduate of North Carolina State University and Anna, a current sophomore at the University North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
In my spare time, I enjoy golfing, boating and serving as a firefighter in the West of New Bern Volunteer Fire Department.
