About Me
I graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a degree in Theatre Arts with a minor in English Education. Although I currently hold a teaching license for both middle and high school, I have found my home here at New Bern High School. I also hold a certificate in Interpreting for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
I am super excited about taking on the role of theatre director. Although my teaching experience has been mostly in the English department, I have always been a part of the theatre, one way or another. I currently hold a position on the board for Rivertowne Players Repertory Theatre, as well as the ITS Eastern NC Regional Representative. I was honored to work closely with NBHS's former director and friend, Aaron Williams, for the last five years and Ezra Brain the year before. I look forward to building our Thespians' skills and love for the performing arts.
My Family
I am a wife of twenty-five years to a retired Marine, and together we have three boys: a twenty-year-old, as well as a junior, and freshman who both attend NBHS. We have two dogs, which include a Rottweiler- black lab mix, named Lexi, and a lovable mutt named Bandit.
My Interests
Being a full-time teacher and full-time mom doesn't leave much time for hobbies. When I am able to squeeze out some time for myself, I enjoy the theatre, going to the movies, scrapbooking, crafting, cake decorating, dancing, visiting with friends, and diving into a good book. I am fluent in American Sign Language, and I take pleasure in visiting amusement parks. One day I hope to visit all of the Disney parks throughout the world.
