Grading Policies and Scale
Please read the directions on an assignment before getting started. Most assignments will be given a grade for completion according to expectations that are given in the directions. If something is unclear in the instructions, please ask me about it, and I will be happy to clarify!
For discussions or other written assignments, there is often a rubric available that states specifically how you will be graded. Most points are lost by students because they do not read the directions and complete all requirements.
For example, If a discussion board is worth 10 points, I may assign 7 points to your post and 3 points to a meaningful reply. Students who do not reply to another student cannot earn more than 7/10 points (70%).
For ease of understanding grades, I will be using a simple point system for grades. Assignments that are worth more points will have a greater impact on final grades than assignments that have less point value. Most assignments are worth 5-20 points. The grade will be translated into a percentage grade in PowerSchool.
For any grading concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out and ask questions respectfully by email or through Remind. Although I am careful and rarely make errors recording grades, occasionally assignments may be accidentally overlooked if resubmitted or turned in late, or a mistake may happen. If something looks off, let me know and I will look into it!
Grade Category Weights:
All assignments are due by midnight on Sunday of the week they are assigned.
Makeup Work/Late Work
If you misunderstand an assignment and get a low grade or miss an assignment, I will allow you to redo the assignment for a higher grade or submit it late. Please do this in a timely manner (within a week) while the work is still relatively current in order to get full credit.
After those 7 days, points will be deducted by 10% for each day.
