    Course Description:  The 6th grade math course aligns with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study Standards


    Curriculum:  This year students will be using the following curriculum:  OpenUp Resources.  This curriculum can be accessed at openupresources.org



    Ratios and Proportional Relationships (RP)

    Analyze proportional relationships and use them to solve real‐world and mathematical problems


    The Number System (NS)

    Apply and extend previous understandings of operations with fractions to add, subtract, multiply, and divide rational numbers


    Expressions and Equations (EE)

    Use properties of operations to generate equivalent expressions

    Solve real‐life and mathematical problems using numerical and algebraic expressions and equations


    Geometry (G)

    Draw, construct and describe geometrical figures and describe the relationships between them Solve real‐life and mathematical problems involving angle measure, area, surface area, and volume


    Statistics and Probability (SP)

    Use random sampling to draw inferences about a population Draw informal comparative inferences about two populations


    Canvas:  Canvas will be our primary platform for all communication.  This will your child’s resource for contact information, assignments, due dates, expectations and resources.


    Materials:  Students must come to class prepared daily.  


    Weighted Grade Scale:






    **Students will be responsible for completing all missed work when absent from class.**

    **Assignments should be turned in on time on the day that it is due.  Any missed work will result in a 5 point deduction every day that it is missing.**


    Redo-Retake:  Students will be allowed to retake any quiz or test that received a grade below a 70.  Students will have to have to original test signed by a parent/guardian in order to be eligible for the retest.
