Hello, and Welcome To 1st Grade! My name is Sara Schmitt and I would love to tell you a little bit about myself!

I grew up in Havelock, NC as a military child. Although you most commonly hear that children in military families spend a majority of their lives moving all around, I was lucky enough to call Havelock my home from the young age of 2! I went to school in Havelock, graduating from Havelock High School in 2010! After high school graduation, I moved to Greenville and began attending East Carolina University, GO PIRATES ARRGGHHH!!! During my senior year at ECU, I completed an internship at Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary School in Miss Katherine's Kindergarten classroom! I graduated from ECU in December of 2015 with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Mathematics. After graduation, I returned home to Havelock and spent the remaining school year, from January to June, teaching 2nd grade at Havelock Elementary School. The following summer, I was given the opportunity to join Vanceboro Farm Life's team as a Kindergarten Teacher! I couldn't pass up the great opportunity to come back to a school that I had already had the pleasure of working in! I taught Kindergarten for two years, 2nd Grade for two years, 5th Grade for one year, and this will be my second year in 1st grade. I can't wait to have fun with all my new students this year! 

I love coming to school and enjoy seeing what each day has in store for myself and my students! When I am not at school, I spend my time doing activities that I also enjoy! Quite a bit of my time is spent with my family, including my two nieces and two nephews, who are the best! I also enjoy spending my time at the beach, playing sports, and completing "DIY" projects!
