Welcome to Mrs. Snyder's class!
I look forward to teaching Science this year! If you have any comments or concerns, please contact me. The best method is by e-mail. I check my mail at the beginning and end of every school day so I should respond quickly. If you do not hear from me within 24 hours, please call and leave a message. Sometimes e-mail gets kicked into the spam folders by accident. You may also call school. I will be available most days from 10 - 11:15 and 3:45 - 4:45. I answer messages during those times as well.
Contact information should be on this page as well as a supply list.
I hope you and your child have a great school year!
- An item to take notes and store papers. It may be a composition notebook, a spiral notebook, a folder or a section of a binder. Whatever works best for you. When you get papers from me they will be taped onto the page so they won't get lost.
- Loose leaf paper - you may also get a folder to keep extra paper but you do not need anything fancy. A simple two-pocket folder without brads will do fine. The folder is not required.
- Pens/pencils/erasers/lead (LOTS OF LEAD)!
A note about supplies - students run out of suplies at times. Every time your student brings home a report card, ask to look at their supply of paper and pencils (or lead). They will then be ready to learn for the next quarter of school!
I keep t.p. and paper towels in class. If your student would like real tissues they are welcome bring a small pack of their own.

Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Myra Snyder
I went on a journey to become a teacher! I graduated from Virginia Tech with an Animal Science degree and worked as a hog farmer for seven years before having my first child. When she was born, I quit work and became an at-home mother. I have four lovely daughters now and decided to go back to work when the youngest one went to kindergarten. Somewhere along the way I realized I enjoyed teaching. When my youngest daughter went to school, so did I! I went to ECU and completed classes to get my teacher's license. I began teaching at GCF the next fall. This is now my thirteenth year of teaching! Along the way, I added math, social studies and AIG certification. I took a brief trip out of middle school to teach gifted students in elementary school but I found I belonged at GCF. I look forward to working with my middle schoolers and parents so we can have a great year!
